Ultrafiltration membrane

Ultrafiltration membranes are polymeric semipermeable membranes used in ultrafiltration processes to separate macromolecules, colloids, or suspended particles of a certain size from a solution. [2] Driven by pressure, these membranes have pore sizes ranging from 1 to 100 nm and are of the asymmetric membrane type. The pore density is approximately 10/cm², and the operating pressure difference is 100–1000 kPa. They are suitable for removing colloidal particles and macromolecules and can separate solutions with concentrations less than 10%.

Ultrafiltration membranes have been widely used in the advanced treatment of industrial wastewater and process water, such as the concentration, purification, and separation of macromolecular substances in the chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries, sterilization of biological solutions, separation of dyes from printing and dyeing wastewater, recovery of glycerol from petrochemical wastewater, recovery of silver from photographic chemical wastewater, and the preparation of ultrapure water. In addition, they can also be used for sludge concentration and dewatering.
